Please check out our local business directory for yoga studios in Pavones. Yoga is a great way to stay active and a great compliment to all you surfers out there as well.
Tubing down the Rio Claro – This is a seasonal activity. Tubing in Pavones is for the adventure seekers looking for a rush. Rent out tubes in town and hike 1.5 hours up the mountains to the Rio Claro. Then tube down the Rio Claro for approximately 2 hours! The setting is surreal as you get to experience the sights and sounds of being in the middle of the rainforest. The river dumps you off right in town. We recommend that you ask some locals about the right time to go tubing. Depending on the time of year the river may be to low or too high (fast) and not suitable for tubing. Speaking from my own experience, this activity is a blast but you must take precaution. We recommend going in groups of 3 or more. Please inquire here to rent some inner tubes.
Fishing – The Golfo Dulce is rich in marine life and fishing is one of the popular activities around here besides surfing. We have panga boats that will take up to 6 people fishing around the Golfo Dulce for a half day (4-5 hours). Catch a variety of fish such as Dorado, Yellow-Tail Tuna, Black-Tail Tuna, Red Snapper, Amberjack, Grouper, Sea Bass (Corvina), Roosterfish and more. Contact PavonesCR to set up your next fishing trip in Costa Rica.
Horseback Riding – PavonesCR offers a few different horseback tours depending on what you are comfortable with. We offer 2, 4 and 6 hour tours in which you get to see some secluded beaches, rainforest, wildlife, and waterfalls (depends on the time of year). The views are spectacular and is a great experience if you love riding or want to try it out for the first time.
Biking – Rent out one of PavonesCR’s beach cruiser bikes and take a stroll up and down the coastal road to enjoy the amazing scenary. Beach cruiser bikes are the perfect means of transportation to get around in town. Our bikes have baskets in front so you can put your towels, clothes or groceries in. Our hikes usually take anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on what you are up for. Please contact us to set up a guided hiking tour.
Bridge Jumping – This is one of the fun activities that the locals do when to cool down from the hot weather! The main bridge in town is about 40ft above the Rio Claro and as you will see, the kids have their jumps perfected. During the dry season the water level of the river is low so make sure you use your best judgement.
River Walking – The Rio Claro is a beautiful river located in the middle of town. Dumping out to the Pavones surf break, the river is a very popular hangout place for the locals and tourists. The river is a perfect cool temperature to swim in. You can walk up the river about 200 meters and you feel as if you are secluded. This is a great place to take the kids to go swimming or to relax along the river bank soaking in the tropical weather.
Bird Watching – We have over 300 species of birds in the region. There couldn’t be any better place for bird watching than here in the tropics of Costa Rica. Tropical birds such as Scarlet Macaws and Toucans are a common bird to see here. Did you know that there are over 30 species of hummingbirds in the Pavones area? Get your camera and binoculars ready because birding here in Pavones does not get any better!
